READ

Press and hold the POWER/SAMPLE button to take a continuous reading of the scene

LOCK

Release the POWER/SAMPLE button to lock in the current reading

Press the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to adjust your aperture/shutter speed combinations

COMPARE

Press and hold the MENU/COMPARE button to get a relative EV reading against other parts of your scene

2-Spot Average

READ SHADOW

Get a reading from the darkest shadow that you want to capture detail in

READ HIGHLIGHT

Get a reading from the brightest highlight you want to capture detail in

AVERAGE

The Reveni Labs Spot Meter automatically calculates the middle grey EV for the scene and displays the shutter/aperture combination required.

COMPARE

Press and hold the MENU/COMPARE button to compare the calculated middle grey EV with various parts of the scene to confirm

Zone System Method

PICK TONE

Select a tone from the scene that you wish to use as the zone reference point

ASSIGN ZONE

Select which Zone the selected tone should fall into

COMPUTE

The Reveni Labs Spot Meter automatically calculates the Zone V value for the scene and displays the shutter/aperture combination required.

COMPARE

Press and hold the MENU/COMPARE button to compare other tones in the scene and see in real-time which Zone they fall into (based on the selection from steps 1-2)

Nick Carver’s Precision Metering Method

Developed in conjunction with large format photographer and photography teacher Nick Carver based on his Precision Method to Manual Metering, which he teaches in his online course. This mode also allows for customizable film latitude.

PICK TONE

Pick a tone from the scene, the raw EV brightness is displayed as a guide

PLACE TONE

Use the LEFT/RIGHT buttons to select a descriptor for the tone from “TEXTURELESS BLACK” to “TEXTURELESS WHITE” with 10 choices in between

COMPUTE

The Reveni Labs Spot Meter automatically calculates the middle grey EV for the scene and displays the shutter/aperture combination required.

COMPARE

Press and hold the MENU/COMPARE button to compare the calculated middle grey EV with various parts of the scene to confirm. The meter displays the appropriate descriptor in real time, allowing you to confirm your original descriptor choice was accurate

Cine Mode

Meter for motion picture cameras, where the shutter speed is read out as a framerate and shutter angle.

FRAMERATE

Select your framerate and shutter angle and the meter will calculate the aperture required

SHUTTER ANGLE

Select your framerate and shutter angle and the meter will calculate the aperture required

FLASH METERING

New to the Spot Meter Mk.3, reflective flash metering

READY

Press and hold the power/sample button to ready the meter for the flash. Aim it at the subject area

FLASH DETECTED

When the flash is detected, a discharge curve and duration times will be displayed

RESULT

Release the power/sample button to see the results, including the flash-to-ambient ratio

HIGH SPEED SYNC

Use HSS mode on your camera for faster than sync shutter speeds
